Gone but not Forgotten
Benji is a Chihuahua that was surrendered when he stopped eating and his owners couldn't afford to have a tumor removed from his tummy. When I picked him up from the shelter, he was scared, shaking, and very dehydrated. I fed him throughout the night with a syringe and gave him fluids.
The next morning I wrapped him in a blanket and took him to Keystone Veterinary Emergency Hospital. I took a video of him in my arms before I left. He was so lethargic and uncomfortable but I had some faith that maybe it was something that could be cured and that Benji would be alright. However, that wasn't the case.
Unfortunately, little Benji did not make it, despite all of my hope and the efforts of the staff who did a thorough examination, x-rays, and bloodwork. He had many problems other than his tumor and his organs were failing. The staff were all very caring through the process and for that we are grateful. At least he could spend his last night on earth being loved and cared for rather than in alone in cage....Rest in peace little angel, Benji. :.(
